John (Johann) Louis von Neumann (1903-1957) was born in Budapest and showed early signs of being a child prodigy. He entered the University of Budapest in 1921, but also attended the University of Berlin and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology before obtaining a degree in chemical engineering in 1925. Biographical Note: Rufus Isaacs was a mathematician and the creator of a field of mathematics called differential games. He was born in New York city in 1914, did undergraduate work at M.I.T., and earned his Ph. D. at Columbia. Between 1947 and 1967, Isaacs held posts with the aircraft industry, the Rand Corporation, the Institute for Defense Analyses, and the Center for Naval Analyses.
